Primesoft and BMW Philippines: Taking BMW on the Road
The business challenge:
BMW Philippines, A BMW Group Company that was established in January 2001, is a joint venture between BMW AG Germany and Mr. Jose Ch. Alvarez. A brand that has enjoyed an excellent track record backed by uncompromising service, the company is now the country's market leader in the premium/luxury car segment. BMW Philippines is also the Asia Pacific Region’s leader in automobile sales to the diplomatic community.
With the global launch of the new BMW Website format by BMW AG, BMW Philippines was required to re-launch its Website with the new mandated Website format. This new version required a total overhaul of the existing Website format and was much more interactive and more visually appealing.
In compliance with this requirement, BMW Philippines asked Primesoft to migrate the existing BMW Philippines Website, as well as the Websites of all five BMW Philippines Authorized Dealer Websites, to the new BMW AG-mandated Website format. Moreover, it required us to build the entire Website from scratch—without using the Website templates that are usually provided by BMW AG—to cut on costs that would be otherwise be invested into the new template. The catch? BMW Philippines gave Primesoft just five weeks to complete this challenging assignment.
The Primesoft solution:
Our first step was to develop the new site map in collaboration with BMW Philippines’s marketing group. Once this was done, we then developed the required Websites in Macromedia® Flash, which allowed the sites to be both graphically appealing and highly interactive.
To maximize the interactivity of the Website, we used Flash Action Scripting to create more interactive Flash animations in much smaller file sizes. This technology enabled us to improve the Websites’ loading times in spite of their highly graphical and interactive nature. We also used extensive templating technology to allow BMW Philippines to update the sites’ content themselves.
Aside from these, we enhanced the existing Online BMW Certified Pre-Owned Locator featured on the Websites. This Certified Pre-Owned Locator was then re-launched as the BMW Premium Selection Car Finder.
We completed the BMW Philippines and all five BMW Dealer Websites within the five-week deadline–and within budget. Aside from that, our work earned for BMW Philippines Group the recognition of BMW AG for being only the second country distributorship in the Asia Pacific Region to adopt the new BMW Group web site design.
