BoostEdge Reduces Silitek's WAN and Network Traffic by 53-83%

The business challenge:

Silitek Corporation is a Taiwan-based multinational firm that designs, manufactures, and distributes computer peripherals and conductive rubber parts to OEM customers and system integrators. Its customers include some of the world’s largest computer manufacturers, and it processes over 10,000 sales orders every month.

With offices in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, Silitek realized that it would require a solution to improve the response time of its various finance, distribution, and manufacturing modules for over 200 users from around the region. The company already had a 512 kb link to each of its offices, but it wanted to avoid the expense of upgrading the entire wide area network (WAN). Silitek approached Primesoft with the objective of procuring data optimization solutions.

Primesoft saw that all these could be addressed with BoostWorks’s BoostEdge solution.

BoostEdge works by intelligently recognizing the capabilities of the end-user’s browser, and it then applies a rules-based process that optimizes and compresses web traffic and application data. By installing BoostEdge on Silitek’s proxy server, we were able to compress web pages and optimize images that were passing through the Silitek network, significantly reducing both network traffic and download time for every web page being accessed.

At just a fraction of the cost of upgrading Silitek’s entire WAN, our BoostEdge solution enabled Silitek to reduce WAN and network traffic by 53 to 83%. End-user response times were reduced to up to 70% of the original response time, giving Silitek’s employees a significantly improved system experience.
